Daniel Gosling (born 1 February 1990) is a English professional player. He is a player with Premier League club AFC Bournemouth as a central midfielder right fullback or right midfielder. Gosling is an adaptable player, having been a box-to box midfielder several times and also as a right back in order to take on substitutions. His previous clubs include Newcastle United, Plymouth Argyle and Everton.
On January 8, 2008, Gosling agreed to sign a 2-and-a half year contract with Premier League team Everton from Plymouth the day before Everton’s Lukas Jutkiewicz had been loaned to the Pilgrims. His debut for the team came in a 1-0 win away over Middlesbrough during December of 2008 as well as his debut goal with Everton was two days later, during a 3-0 win over Sunderland in the stadium of Goodison Park. Following the game the player was greeted with standing ovations from his fellow players inside the locker room.
In the 2009–10 season, Gosling was mostly on the bench for league games, but was in the starting eleven for most of the League Cup and Europa League matches. In March 2010, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament after a collision with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, and was ruled out of playing for nine months.
In February 2009, Gosling came on as a substitute and scored the only goal in the FA Cup fourth round replay at Goodison Park against crosstown rivals Liverpool in the 118th minute. An error by live broadcasters ITV during the match meant the goal was missed by millions of TV viewers, including Gosling’s mother Hilary. The goal scored against Liverpool was voted Everton’s ‘Goal of the Season’ by the fans of the club. He went on to play in the 2009 FA Cup Final, coming on as a second-half substitute.
Gosling was able to establish himself as a regular player in the reserve squad, and his performance was acknowledged by coach Ian Holloway. In March 2007, he was training for a week at Premiership club Chelsea together with his teammates Luke Summerfield and Scott Sinclair. In the same year, he was named the Herald’s Young Sports Person of the Year in 2007.

The boy was born from Brixham, Devon, Gosling was discovered in the eyes of Plymouth Argyle scouts when he was playing in the youth team of his hometown team Brixham United. On the 9th of December, 2006, aged sixteen years old and 310 day, Gosling made his first professional appearance in the match against Hull City, coming on as a substitute in the opening half of the game for captain Paul Wotton and became the fourth-youngest debutant. The full-time debut was made at New Year’s Day 2007, against Southampton at Home Park. He showed his versatility in an impressive performance, shifting from right- midfield to right-back following an early injury to defender Mathias Doumbe.
Gosling received a call-up in the England Under-17s squad for the UEFA European U17 Championship Qualifying Round in Bosnia towards the close of March 2007 after performing well for the Pilgrims as well as being selected in the England U17 team at the 2007 European Championships in Belgium. England placed twenty-third at that event, and qualified for 2007’s FIFA U-17 World Cup, with Gosling making the squad. In the summer of 2009, Gosling was called up for the final squad to participate in the U19 European Championship and started in every game. He scored a goal against Ukraine in the group stage match to give England the lead but Ukraine equalised to draw 2–2. England ended the tournament as runners-up to Ukraine.
