Craig Chamberlain is one of the most popular and richest American baseball player who was born on February 2, 1957 in Hollywood, California, United States. Craig Phillip Chamberlain (born February 2nd 1957, in Hollywood, California) is a famous American ex-professional baseball player. He was a pitcher and played at 15 matches, with 10 starts, during his time in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Royals in 1979 and 1980. When he was a rookie for the 1979 Royals, Chamberlain threw three complete games in his initial three Major League appearances.
After a no-decision during his fifth outing in the game against New York at Yankee Stadium, Chamberlain notched his fourth complete game victory in his sixth appearance on Sept. 7 in the Kingdome with an eight-hit victory 6-2 against his fellow Seattle Mariners. It was his last MLB win and a complete game.
In his third start, on August 24 at home against the Boston Red Sox, Chamberlain was not as effective, allowing ten hits and two earned runs, but he defeated Boston 4–2 and, in the process, bested another future Hall of Famer, Dennis Eckersley, who was then a starting pitcher.
Five days later, at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore against the Orioles, Chamberlain again got the starting nod and again notched a complete game, 7–1 win. This time, he allowed only three hits (including a home run by Ken Singleton) and two walks to the eventual American League champions, defeating Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer.
In the year 1980 the Royals were able to regain the division title and capture the first American League pennant, but Chamberlain was a season-long stay at Triple-Aand won 11 games, but putting up an unproductive 4.76 Earned Run Average while playing for The Omaha Royals. Chamberlain was called up in September, and made five appearances as a relief pitcher, but lost the only one of his decisions and pitched ten batters and five walks over 9/3 innings pitched. It was his final MLB trial. However, his professional career continued for fifteen seasons playing in minor league baseball (1981-1983 1987-1988; 1991) and in independent leagues (1995).
