Following the departure of centre-back Harlee Dean on the 30th of August 2017 Mepham was promoted to the first team and was given an agreement for a five- year period. He made his debut with the club in the 3-1 EFL Cup third round defeat to Norwich City on 19 September 2017 and was the one to concede the penalty that resulted in the Canaries scoring their first goal. After appearing infrequently through the fall after a head injury was sustained from John Egan during December granted Mepham to be a part of the squad from the time of Christmas until early February 2018. A achilles injury sustained from Andreas Bjelland in mid-March allowed Mepham to return to the team . He scored his first goal for the club in his career, scoring the equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on Good Friday. Mepham ended the 2017-18 campaign with 23 appearances and scored a goal.
Mepham began the 2018–19 season as the Bees’ undisputed first-choice centre back in league matches, but was sent off for the first time in his career for two bookable offences committed during a 1–0 defeat to Bristol City on 20 October 2018. He made 27 appearances before departing the club for a club- record transfer fee in January 2019. During his two-and-a-half seasons as a professional at Griffin Park, Mepham made 48 appearances and scored one goal.
In October 2019 he pulled out of the Wales squad due to injury.
He was drafted to the Wales U20 team in the 2017 Toulon Tournament and made one appearance in an 2-2 draw in the group stage against Ivory Coast on 5 June 2017. Mepham made his debut for the U21 team with a debut in the 3-1 2019. UEFA U21 Championship qualifying victory against Switzerland on the 2nd of September in 2017. Mepham played for the U21 squad in the very first match during an 0-0 draw for qualifying with Romania six weeks after.

Christopher James Mepham (born 5 November 1997) is a professional footballer that is a center back at Premier League club AFC Bournemouth and for the Wales National team. He was a graduate from the Brentford and Chelsea Academies.
Mepham was admitted to the academy of Brentford in 2012 after being noticed by the head of Academy Recruitment as he made an appearance in the North Greenford’s reserves squad. After three appearances with the team’s youth squad as an U16 player, Mepham signed a contract for a scholarship during June of 2014. Two weeks later, it was confirmed that Mepham was signed on his debut professional deal. Mepham will become a part of the development squad at the club. the player completed his course with 43 appearances and scoring 2 goals in the team’s youth squad. After consistently excellent performances by the newly formed B team in the first portion of the season Mepham was signed on the extension for two years on January 6, 2017. The next day the following day, he made his premier league debut substitution for Harlee Dean in the 5-1-0 FA Cup third round victory against Eastleigh. The 2016-17 season was a success, with Mepham named the B Team’s Player of the year.
In March 2018, Mepham won his maiden call-up to the senior team for the 2018 China Cup. He made his debut as a substitute for Ben Davies after 70 minutes of a 6–0 victory over China on 22 March 2018. Two months later, he made his first international start, in a 0–0 friendly draw with Mexico on 28 May.
