He is a Taiwanese professional player of the baseball field who plays for the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He played previously with Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. The fifth memberand the first infielderof Taiwan to be a part of MLB. He was the last player to be named (along with the name of his fellow Taiwanese Fu-Te Niwho was formerly from the Detroit Tigers) is the longest known in MLB history.

Hu was elevated into Triple-A Las Vegas on July 12, 2007 and made his MLB debut on September 1st 2007 against the San Diego Padres. After his first MLB at-bat, Hu hit a solo home run in the face of San Diego Padres reliever Brett Tomko on September 11, 2007 against the Padres and became the first player of the position born in Taiwan who hit a home hit in MLB. (Hu’s partner was the pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo, had become the first player from Taiwan to hit an RBI during MLB prior to 2007). On the 25th of September, Hu hit a two-run homer in a game against Colorado Rockies’ starting pitcher Ubaldo Jaimenez. Hu became the first Taiwanese born player with two consecutive homers. Hu was a lot of the 2009 at AAA as part of the Albuquerque Isotopes and appeared in only five games for the Dodgers after being called up in September.

On December 27, 2010, he was traded to the New York Mets in exchange for pitcher Michael Antonini. On May 17, he was outrighted to the minor leagues.

In 2010, he again spent most of the year with the Isotopes. He appeared in 14 games with the Dodgers in 2010 and got 3 hits in 23 at-bats.

He was a player in 2006 and was a player with the Double-A Jacksonville Suns. Hu participated in the All-Star Futures Game during the All-Star break in both 2006 as well as 2007. Hu was awarded MVP for his performance in the 2007 game.

Hu got signed to the Dodgers on the 31st of January, 2003 beginning his career in his rookie team, the Ogden Raptors in 2003. He played in 2004 with both the Columbus Catfish in A ball and the Vero Beach Dodgers in High-A ball. He was a part of all season long at Vero Beach, and scored .313 along with 23 steal bases.
