Chen was born in Lisbon to his father Chen Shichao (Chinese: Chen Shi Chao ) who was professional Table tennis athlete. Chen Shichao originates from Guangzhou in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China and relocated to Portugal following the invitation from Portuguese Table tennis team Sporting CP in 1989. Chen was a part of Pescadores’s academy for youth and was elevated to first-team status in 2013. On September 14, 2013 Chen made his first premier league debut with a 2-2 draw with Uniao de Tomar, coming in as a substitute for Charles Oliveira in the 86th minute.
Chen was a member of Chinese Holding Club Mafra in the year 2014. Chen joined Mafra in 2014. He relocated into Loures at the end of the season of.
