Adler was born in Montreal and began his career in broadcasting while studying at McGill University. After a brief stint working at Radio McGill, Charles became an executive production manager for CKGM (AM) at Montreal at the end of summer 1973. After that, his fascination with radio increased. The first time he started using a professional mic during the cold winter months of 1974 when the show was a weeknight rock show on CKXL which was located in Calgary. In the same year, it was back to Montreal working for CJAD (AM) and was then he worked on stations such as Hamilton, London, Winnipeg and Toronto. Then he returned to Calgary in 1989 and launched an talk radio show known as Hot Talk. Following that, he made an relocation to USA where he hosted the nationally broadcast radio show that was syndicated from Tampa which aired in more than 120 markets.

Adler was presented a Key to the City of Toronto in 1998 and is a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient. Adler received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association on May 27, 2017.
