Carlos Parente is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on April 8, 1961 in Luanda, Luanda Province, Angola. Carlos Alberto Bastos Parente, a Portuguese former footballer, was born 8 April 1961 in Luanda (Portugal Angola). He played as a central defender.

Parente was one of only two Portuguese national team players to earn caps after almost all international players left following the Saltillo Affair at 1986 FIFA World Cup. Both came in the following year. He received his first cap on 11 November when he played in the second half of a 0-0 draw against Switzerland at the UEFA Euro 1988 qualifiers.

Parente joined Boavista F.C. In 1984, Parente joined Boavista F.C. He was also a Porto neighbor, S.C. Salgueiros, and he remained in the top league for ten years. In 1987-88, he was with the former and scored a career-best nine goals over 33 games. This helped the team finish fifth, just missing qualification for the UEFA Cup. He retired from professional football at 33. He had played in 229 matches and scored 24 goals.
