Carl Gray Rackemann OAM, born 3 June 1960, nicknamed “Mocca”, was a former Queensland cricketer and Australian cricketer. In a career that spanned 1979/80 through 1995/96, he was a fast-bower in 12 Test matches and 52 One Day Internationals. He also played in 167 first-class cricket matches.
Rackemann was selected for the 1989 Ashes tour to England and returned to Australia in 1989. He scored incredible figures in the second innings against New Zealand at Perth in 1989-1990 with 31 overs and 21 maidens. He also ran 23 runs and took 1 wicket.
After his playing career, he went on to the national coaching position for the Zimbabwean national cricket team for two seasons from 2000. He has now returned to farming in Queensland and is also an after dinner speaker. He has inspired an expatriate Australian cricket team in London “Carl Rackemann All Stars (CRAS)”
Rackemann stood as a Katter’s Australian Party candidate in the electoral district of Nanango during the 2012 Queensland state election. His attempt was unsuccessful.
He signed up for the rebel tours of South Africa (1985-1986 and 1986-1987), thus becoming ineligible for the official Australian team.
