Buddy Alexander is one of the most popular and richest American coach who was born on February 20, 1953 in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. American ex-college golf coach and amateur golfer, Stewart Murray Alexander was born February 20, 1953. Alexander was the former head coach of men’s golf at Florida Gators. He is most well-known for his coaching the Gators to National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I tournament championships in 1993, 2001.
Alexander was the Florida Gators’ men’s golf coach from January 1988 through April 2014. Alexander’s Gators teams won two National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament championships (NCAA), in 1993 and 2001. Alexander coached Nick Gilliam, the team captain, to an individual NCAA championship in 2001, which was only the second time that Alexander has coached a Gators golfer. In his 22-year tenure as Gators’ coach, his teams won eight Southeastern Conference (SEC), team championships (1989–1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2011). His players won eight SEC individual titles.
In 2005, Alexander was selected to coach the U.S. national amateur team in Palmer Cup competition.
In 2013, Alexander’s Gator golfers finished fourth of fourteen teams in the SEC championship tournament in Sea Island, Georgia, and twenty-fifth of thirty invited teams at the NCAA Tournament in Woodstock, Georgia.
Alexander was previously the head coach of the LSU men’s and ladies’ golf teams from 1983 to 1987 and Georgia Southern University’s men’s team from 1977 to 1980. Alexander was only two years away from graduating when he became the Georgia Southern head golf coach. Alexander was the LSU head golf coach for both men and women. His teams won two SEC championships (1986 and 1987) and his LSU players won two SEC individual title titles.

Alexander was an All-American during his college playing career at Georgia Southern University in 1975 and 1974. He continued playing competitive golf after he graduated from Georgia Southern University. He won the 1976 Azalea Inviteal, the 1977 Eastern Amateur and the 1986 U.S. Amateur Championship. Amateur Championship. He was also a member the 1986 Eisenhower Trophy and 1987 Walker Cup teams.

He qualified for the U.S. Open in 2009, just like his grandfather and father before him. Tyson became a professional in 2010.
In thirty-three years as a head coach, Alexander’s teams finished among the top ten in the NCAA tournament fifteen times. His teams amassed seventy-two tournament victories, and thirty-one of his players earned All-American honors. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) honored him as its National Coach of the Year three times (1993, 2001 and 2004), and the GCAA inducted him into its Coaches Hall of Fame in 2001, joining former Gators coach Buster Bishop. The SEC recognized him seven times as its Coach of the Year (1986, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1999, 2003, 2004). As of 2010, Alexander had coached thirty-three future professional golfers as collegians, including eighteen at Florida.
