Brian Paul Engblom (born 27 January 1955) is an Canadian broadcaster of ice hockey on behalf of the Tampa Bay Lightning and NBCSN as well as a former defenseman in the professional hockey league.
Engblom has joined his team the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 2015-16 season as a color analyst, along with Rick Peckham, replacing Bobby Taylor who was promoted to host the studio.
Engblom was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and played for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was selected as the 22nd pick overall of Montreal Canadiens in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft. He was a part of his first two professional seasons for the Montreal AHL affiliated Nova Scotia Voyageurs before playing in his first NHL game in the 1977 Stanley Cup playoffs with Montreal. He was awarded the two Stanley Cups, in 1978 and 1979 as a member of the Canadiens. Engblom’s name was removed from the Cup in 1977 due to the fact that there was no regular games during the season. He was a participant in two playoff games but was not a part of the finals.

In 1982, as Engblom was beginning to establish himself as an elite NHL defenseman He was also part of a major transaction which involved the team of him Doug Jarvis, Rod Langway and Craig Laughlin dealt to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Rick Green and Ryan Walter. In the following season Engblom was traded together with Ken Houston to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Hall of Hall Of Famer Larry Murphy. The final season of his career included stints with The Buffalo Sabres, and Calgary Flames. Engblom’s last NHL season of 1986-87 came to an end early because of bone spurs in his spinal column, which required major surgery to correct. In his 11 seasons Engblom had 177 goals, 29 assists and scored 29 goals.
Engblom worked as an NHL studio analyst and color commentator on ESPN as well as NHL in ABCfrom 1993 until 2004 and was also employed by NBC after they purchased NHL TV rights in 2004. In 2005-06 the color analyst was on in Columbus Blue Jackets games aired on Fox Sports Ohio. He is currently an analyst on color on behalf of Tampa Bay Lightning games on Sun Sports, Tampa Bay Lightning on Sun Sports as well as NHL broadcasts on NBC Sports Network. Engblom has also contributed an analysis of the postgame for Colorado Avalanche on Altitude Sports and Entertainment and working in tandem together with Mark Rycroft.
