On November 14, 2014, Skeete took on Frankie Gavin at the ExCel Arena to defend Gavin’s British title as well as an unclaimed Commonwealth title. The fight went to the finish and ended with Gavin receiving a controversial, unanimous decisionthat resulted in the first loss of his career.
In March 2016 he convincingly beat defending champion Sam Eggington to add the British and Commonwealth titles.
On 28 April 2018, Skeete faced Spanish boxer Kerman Lejarraga for the vacant EBU European title last held by Mohamed Mimoune. He lost the bout by technical knockout in the second round.
In November 2013, he defeated Colin Lynes by unanimous decision to win the English world welterweight title. In his subsequent fight, the winner was Christopher Sebire to take the vacant WBA Inter-Continental welterweight title. He successfully defended his inter-continental title in April 2014, defeating Tobia Giuseppe Loriga after the 7th round.
