Betsy Fischer Martin (born February 17th 1970) is an Emmy-winning American journalist, and the former TV news executive on the network’s “Meet the Press,” the longest-running television program in history. She is currently the Executive Director of the Women & Politics Institute at American University and the Executive-in-Residence. Martin is also an Associate of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at American University. She is also a participant in the International Advisory Council of APCO Worldwide and is the principal and founder of her own consulting company, Fischer Martin Media, which is a specialist in providing training in media to executives of corporations.

Betsy Fischer Martin attended Grace King High School in Metairie, Louisiana. It is which is a high school for public students located within Metairie, Louisiana, which she graduated from in 1988. She received both her graduate and undergraduate degree in the field of law from American University in Washington D.C. She earned her B.A. at the age of 22 in the year 1992 (Cum Laude) with the major of justice and minoring in political sciences. She graduated with her M.A at the age of 26 in public and journalism affairs in 1992 (Cum Laude). In her time in American University she was also a research assistant in the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies.

In 2008, she produced NBC’s coverage of the presidential election for Tom Brokaw – including party conventions, debates, and election night – as well as one of the three general election debates between McCain and Obama, which he moderated (October 7, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee). She was also the Anchor Producer for David Gregory for NBC’s Special coverage of the 2012 presidential election.
