Bradford was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, the son of the energy regulation Peter A. Bradford and painter Katherine Bradford. Bradford as well as his twin sister Laura Bradford grew up in Maine and New York City. Both went to Phillips Academy and Yale University which they graduated from in 1993.
