Aritz Maestu Babarro (born 19 September 1990) is a Spanish pair skater. With his former teammate, Laura Barquero, he is the 2018 Torun Cup champion and 2018 International Challenge Cup champion, and he also represented Spain in two World Championships.
Rodriguez/Maestu competed in Maestu and Rodriguez competed in the 2012 World Junior Championships in Minsk, Belarus, but they were eliminated after finishing 13th during the initial round. Miguel Alegre and Emma Baxter were the coaches from Jaca, Spain.
Grigorieva/Maestu’s final competition together was the 2014 European Championships, which took place in January in Budapest, Hungary. Ranked 20th in the short program, the pair did not advance to the free skate.
Lech/Maestu placed 13th in the short program, 15th in the free skate, and 15th overall at the 2016 European Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. They were coached by Dorota Siudek and Mariusz Siudek in Toruń, Poland.
The team was formed in September of 2012 when Maestu team together alongside Russia’s Veronica Grigorieva to represent Spain on the international stage. The two trained with the team in Torun (Poland) as well as Jaca (Spain) and were coached by Marius Siudek. Their first international appearance was in September 2013 at the Lombardia Trophy. The following week they took part in the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy, the final qualification opportunity to qualify of this year’s Winter Olympics. Their finish, which was 18th, wasn’t enough to guarantee for a place in the Olympics.

Maestu began to learn skating in 2002. As a solo skater He was trained by Jonathan Levers in San Sebastian. He was awarded only one ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) assignment in September 2008.
Maestu’s first pair skating partner was Alexandra Rodriguez Long. They skated for two seasons between 2010 and 2011. In JGP Austria in September 2011 They became the very first duo to represent Spain at an international event.
In 2014, Maestu teamed up with Poland’s Marcelina Lech to compete for Spain. They made their international debut in February 2015, at the Bavarian Open.
