Amitai Ziv MD, MHA (born 30 July 1957) is an Israeli doctor who is a Professor in the field of Medical Education in Tel Aviv University, Deputy Director of the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, founder and Director of MSR MSR – the Israel Center for Medical Simulation.

Ziv was back in Israel in 2000 to join Sheba Medical Center – Tel Hashomer as the Director Deputy for Medical Education as well as Risk Management and Patient Safety. The year 2001 was when he launched MSR which stands for the Israel Center for Medical Simulation and established it as an elite institute in its area. The year 2003 was the time he earned an outstanding Master’s Degree from the School of health Administration in the field of Health Administration from Tel-Aviv University. in 2016 , he was named as the Acting Director of Sheba Medical Center. He is also the recipient of national and international awards including the 2007 Charles Bronfman Prize for Humanitarian Action, and in 2010 was appointed to serve on International Panel of Judges of the prize. He also received the 2007 Michener Honorary Diploma of Health Science Award for leadership and commitment to the Applied Health Sciences.

in 2010 he was appointed Associate Professor and head of the Department of Medical Education. He also holds a position of Adjunct Associate Professor (Pediatrics) at Case Western University Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio and Adjunct Associate Professor (Medical Education) at the Medical School of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Ziv was a part of the Startup Company MedSim in 1998. It was founded by former Israeli Airforce pilots who were able to create Medical Simulation Systems. He was the Medical Director as well as Vice President of Management as well as Medical Education. He established the first virtual Simulation Center in Philadelphia as an initiative of MedSim together with Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. As the director of the center, he created and led a simulation-based educational program for medical school.

Ziv is a native of Jerusalem in the family of Canadian immigrants. He grew up within his hometown of the Jerusalem Beit HaKerem neighborhood and graduated from the Hebrew University Secondary School. He joined the Israeli Air Force in 1978 and was an combat pilot as well as flight instructor. He graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem Medical School in 1989. The medical simulation center, known locally and internationally as “MSR”, was established in 2001, under Ziv’s direction and based on his vision. The center is used for simulation-based Training of medical teams from all medical organizations in Israel, including the Ministry of Health, hospitals and medical centers around the country, HMO’s, Israel Defence Forces Medical Core, and David Shield organizations.
