Zaur Gurbanli is one of the most popular and richest Activist who was born on January 12, 1987 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Zaur Gurbanli (Azerbaijani name Zaur Qurbanli; born January 12, 1987 in Baku) is a youth activist who was co-founded and a board member of N!DA Civic Movement between February 2011 and December 12, 2012. He also serves as projects coordinator and senior official for the rights of those arrested. His arrest on April 1, 2013, a few days following protests in Baku against non-combat deaths of the military, is well-known. He was charged with keeping an illegal firearm and acquiring explosive substances and devices. International human rights organisation Amnesty International identified him as a prisoner-of-conscience. After being sentenced to 8 year imprisonment on May 6, 2014. He was released on December 30, 2014 after being pardoned.
Zaur Gurbanli, meanwhile, was a blogger. On September 29, 2012, he was taken into custody by civic gears pretending to be officials of Department for Combating Organized Crime. Absheron district court decided to place him under administrative arrest for fifteen days in accordance with article 310.1 of Administrative offences Code of Azerbaijan Republic.

He was one of the founders of N!DA Civic Movement, which was established in February 2011. He was a project coordinator and was twice elected to the Board during his tenure in the organization.
