Russian professional ice hockey defenseman Ziyat Asiyatovich Pagin (Russian: Ziiat Asiiatovich Pavin; born February 8, 1995) is Ziyat Asiyatovich. He is currently contracted with HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers as the 209th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

After attending the Oilers’ training camp in 2017, Paigin was one of the first to be reassigned by the Condors for the 2017-18 season. He was not in the Oilers’ scoring games, and he also served as a healthy scratch. Paigin was then placed on unconditional waivers of the Oilers to allow for a mutually terminated contract. He signed a two-year contract on December 15, 2017 with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

At the conclusion of the season, Paigin’s reunion with Sochi was short lived as he was traded to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in exchange for financial compensation on 8 July 2019.

Paigin was released by Sochi in the off-season. He was not allowed to renew his contract. On 2 May 2016, he was traded to Ak Bars Kazan. This was in return for financial compensation. The 2016-17 season saw Paigin fail to build on his previous success with Sochi. Paigin’s reduced ice time and injury limitations meant that he only scored 1 goal and 4 assists in 17 games played with Ak Bars. After being demoted to Bars Kazan, VHL, at the end of the seasons, Paigin decided to continue his NHL ambitions and signed an amateur contract with the Bakersfield Condors Oilers American Hockey League affiliate on 5 April 2017. Paigin was unhappy with his KHL hockey team’s ice time and his role. The Oilers signed Paigin to a two year entry-level contract on April 11, 2017.

Before he was drafted by Ak Bars Kazan in the 2012 KHL Junior Draft at 82nd overall, Paigin had played youth hockey with Dizel Pennza. Paigin played 33 games with Ak Bars Kazan in his Kontinental Hockey League debut, scoring a goal and an assist during the 2014-15 KHL season.
