Kalontarov won in April 2015 the International School Sport Federation’s Swimming World Schools Championship in the 50 m freestyle (in 22.39), and 100 m freestyle (1 in 50.49), in Poznan (Poland). He was 18 years old and represented Israel at the 2015 European Games, Baku, Azerbaijan. He won a gold medal in the 50m freestyle with a European Games record of 22.16. This won him the European Junior Swimming Championships on 27 June 2015. His 50 m freestyle time in the final set a new Israeli senior swimming record. He was able to represent Israel at Rio de Janeiro’s 2016 Summer Olympics.
