Zehava (born Zehava Beniste; Hebrew: zhbh bn – November 8, 1968) was an Israeli female singer who is well-known for her Middle Eastern-style singing. This style, which emerged from Israel’s Mizrahi Jewish community, dominated Israeli music in 1990s and has been very popular since then.
Ben and Etti ankri, Arkadi duchin, David D’Or and Arkadi Ankri recorded the title track “Yesh Od Tikvah”, which D’Or composed the music and lyrics for on the CD Yesh Od Tikvah/You’ve got a Friend. Hed Arzi released the CD in 2002 to benefit victims of Israeli terror. All proceeds went to NATAL Israel, the Israel Trauma Center for Victims Of Terror and War.
Zehava was a candidate for Meretz’s 1996 election. She sang the “Shir LaShalom”, a song about peace, during the campaign.
