On the 18th of August the 18th of August, 2015 Ceretto announced that he was going to contest a reelection election to the 2016 election as a Democrat. Ceretto was defeated in 2015 in the 2016 election by Republican Angelo Morinello.
In the November elections for the State Assembly, Ceretto beat the former Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte who ran for the Working Families Party Line facing and Democratic contestant as well as former Niagara Falls City Councilman John Accardo.
