After winning the EBSA Amateur Cup playoffs, Surety was awarded a spot on the professional World Snooker Tour 2014-15 and 2015-16. He beat Michael Georgiou and Michael Tomlinson, both 4-1.

Surety lost his five first professional matches, but beat Mark King 6-3 to reach the International Championship. David Gilbert beat Surety 6-4 in round one. He was eliminated in round one of the UK Championship and Welsh Open by Michael Holt, and Graeme Dott. However, he qualified for the China Open after beating Li Hang 5-4. Surety won three frames straight to defeat Joe Swail 5-4. He then raced to a 4-1 advantage over Robert Milkins. Milkins reduced the gap to 4-3. Surety then saw his best chance of winning come in the next frame, when he opened it up with a 65 break. However, he lost it and the match in the deciding frame. Milkins later apologized to Surety and reprimanded him for his behavior during the match. Surety’s first campaign ended in a defeat to Zhou Yuelong (10-8). This result saw him place 97th in world rankings.

Surety, a Basildon-based amateur, entered Players Tour Championship events starting in 2010. His best result as an amateur was a run to 32 stages of 2012 UKPTC 3 with wins over Jack Lisowski (main stages) and Oliver Lines (main stages). Surety entered Q School in 2012, 2013 and 2014 in the hopes of winning a main tour. However, he lost 4-1 to Ryan Clark at the final stage in 2013. However, his Q School performances earned him a top-up place in four professional ranking tournaments in 2013-14. He did not qualify for any of the four events, and won only one match against Patrick Einsle at the 2013 Australian Goldfields Open.

Surety qualified for the European Masters with victories of 4-2 and 1 over Antony Parsons and Kyren Wilson. He was then knocked out by Liang Wenbo in round one. He beat Darryl Hill 4-3 to reach the second round at the Northern Ireland Open, but was defeated 4-2 by Hossein Vafaei. After failing to make it through Q School, Surety was forced to quit the tour.

All players on the snooker tour receive entry to the first round of the UK Championship and Welsh Open and these were the only events Surety could reach in the 2015–16 season. He lost 6–4 to Jack Lisowski in the first round of the UK and 4–1 to Joe Swail in the first round of the Welsh. Surety dropped off the tour after being unable to break into the top 64 in the world rankings during his two-year stay and he entered Q School in an attempt to win his place back. In the second event he lost 4–1 in the final round to David John, but he would gain entry in to some events next season as a top-up player due to his high Q School Order of Merit ranking.
