Steven Hallworth (born 1 December 1995) is an English professional snooker player who played professionally for a while. He is the sole professionally qualified professional player from Lincoln. It is his current status as an amateur after having lost his tour card in the year 2016. He is a partner in practice to Stuart Carrington.
Hallworth did not qualify for the first two ranking events of the 2014-15 season, however he did manage to win his first tournament as a professional by beating Zak Certainty 5-4, in the opening qualifier round at the Australian Goldfields Open. The 128 players on the Snooker Tour automatically participate in the opening round in the UK Championship and in Hallworth’s first appearance at the arena stage of ranking events, he lost 6-1, to Mark Williams. At the Welsh Open first round he played Shaun Murphy to a deciding frame but was unable to win it to lose 4-3. Hallworth defeated the reigning Indian Open champion Michael White 4-1 in the opening stage of World Championship qualifying, before losing seven frames in succession and was defeated 10-8. Hallworth finished his first year in the tour as the world’s number 116.
At the end of the 2017/18 season he entered Q School in an attempt to win back a place on the professional snooker tour. He earnt a credible victory over Zhao Xintong.
Hallworth defeated Hossein Vafaei by a score of 4-3 to make it into Hallworth qualified for Indian Open and narrowly lost 4-3 to Stuart Bingham in the opening round. The Shoot-Out was changed to one that was a ranking event in the season and Hallworth reached the quarter-finals after victories on Boonyarit Keattikun, Michael White, Daniel Wells and Li Hang. His winning streak ended in the defeat of Andy Hicks. He beat Darryl Hill 4-0 at the Gibraltar Open, before losing 4-1 to Nigel Bond in the second round. Hallworth was one win away from securing an EBSA tour card for two years at the EBSA Play-off. However, he was defeated at 4-1, in the second round by Gerard Greene.

Hallworth began playing snooker when he was 10 after playing pool during the family holiday. Hallworth was able to make a name for himself at amateur and junior levels. He was offered the chance to play the future World Champion Mark Selby aged 12 in 2009 after he won the under-17 Lincoln as well as the District Billiards and Snooker Association crown. Selby was also one of the eight finalist at the time of the Rileys Future Stars competition ran by Ronnie O’Sullivan, but lost out to Joel Walker.
Hallworth continued to participate in Players Tour Championship events in 2011 and Q School in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2013-14 that Hallworth began to make it into the main rounds of PTC events. His most notable performances included losing 4-3 to Kurt Maflin in the Paul Hunter Classic and losing 4-0 to the former World Champion Mark Williams in the Antwerp Open. Hallworth also made his telecast debut. Hallworth’s performance in tournaments like the EBSA Amateur Cup Events were enough to make him eligible for the play-off event for six players and three players were awarded two-year professional tour tickets in the World Snooker Tour, with an impressive win at the Antwerp tournament. Hallworth defeated Martin Ball 4-1 in the first round, and then beat Mitchell Travis 4-3 in the final round to secure a spot on the tour in the 2014-15 and the 2015-16 seasons.
A run of 10 consecutive defeats from June 2015 to December was ended when Hallworth overcame Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5–4 in the German Masters qualifiers. He then beat Andy Hicks 5–4 on the final black to play in a ranking event outside of the United Kingdom for the first time, but was whitewashed 5–0 by world number one Mark Selby. Hallworth dropped off the tour at the end of the season and failed to advance through Q School.
