Zachary Thomas Redmond, born July 26, 1988, is an American professional ice hockey defender currently playing for the Rochester Americans in American Hockey League (AHL). The Atlanta Thrashers drafted him in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, 184th overall.

Redmond was unable to meet the NHL games-played requirement during his entry- level contract due to the leg injury that he suffered the previous season. Redmond became a free agent. Redmond was signed to a 2-year contract by the Colorado Avalanche on July 1, 2014. Redmond was on the Avalanche roster for the 2014-15 season. He later made his Avalanche debut recording an assist in the 7-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks. Redmond scored his first Avalanche goal on his fifth game, a 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Redmond further solidified his position on the blueline with two career-high goals, including the game-winner against the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov 22. Redmond was third in scoring in his NHL debut with five goals and 20 assists in 59 games.

At the conclusion of his contract with the Avalanche, Redmond left as a free agent to sign a two-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on July 1, 2016.

Approaching the final year of his contract with the Canadiens and unable to make the NHL roster to open the 2017–18 season, Redmond was traded by Montreal to the Buffalo Sabres for Nicolas Deslauriers on October 4, 2017. He was immediately reassigned to AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. Having recorded three points in his first four games with the Americans, Redmond was recalled by the injury-struck Sabres on October 21, 2017. Near the conclusion of the 2017–18 regular season, on April 5, 2018, Redmond was named to the AHL Second All-Star Team.

Redmond’s first NHL goal was a short-handed one against James Reimer, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Redmond was injured during morning skate and was taken to Raleigh, North Carolina hospital to have his right femoral vein and vein repaired. Redmond was to miss the rest of the 2012-13 season. Redmond, however, resumed skating on April 4 with his teammates. He revealed that his recovery was far ahead of schedule. Doctors and trainers described his speed of recovery as “miraculous”. Redmond was expected to return to training camp in September 2013, but he did not rule out the possibility that he would be available earlier if the Jets enjoyed a deep playoff run.

Redmond signed a three-year entry-level contract with Atlanta Thrashers after his college career at Ferris State University. Redmond’s NHL rights were transferred to Winnipeg Jets after the Thrashers relocated.
