Borisov was the eighth child in a family that included eight children, and was born in Churapcha District on 15 August 1954. His father, Afanasiy, was a poor farmer and mechanic who struggled financially during Soviet times. While his mother Praskovya Borisova worked as a nurse in kindergarten school, Borisov worked as a nurse. Borisov, who was 12 years old, said that his father took him hunting around Taba in 20 km to the west Churapcha District. At the age of 41, his father died from natural causes. Borisov began working at Agricultural Equipment Shop in 1971 to help his family survive financially. Borisov, who was an engineer from an early age, graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1978. Borisov was the head of the shop where he worked and joined the Communist Party. He then became the Churapcha Regional Administration of Agriculture Deputy Chief. Borisov joined Yakutia politics after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Borisov requested that President Vladimir Putin resign and he agreed to end his term before he was elected. Putin appointed Borisov as Acting President while he waited for an elected president to take office. He was the former Prime Minister of Sakha Republic. Borisov was a candidate in this election, winning nearly 59%.
Borisov was appointed acting governor by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in May 2010. In June, the republic’s assembly confirmed Borisov in the position and he was officially elected president of the republic.

Yegor Afanasyevich Borisov (Russian name: Egor As’evich Borisov) was born 15 August 1954. He is a Yakut Russian politician. He has been an advisor to Sakha Republic’s government since May 2018. He was previously the governor of Sakha Republic between 2010 and 2018 as well as the prime minister of the republic between 2003 and 2010.
He was elected as a deputy in the regional assembly in August 2001 and became the first deputy prime minster for the body in 2002. He was elected deputy to the regional assembly and became the first deputy prime minister for the republic in 2002.
In May 2018, he resigned as President Of the Sakha Republic and assumed the role as an advisor to the government.
