Yang Yansheng, simplified Chinese:Yang Yan Sheng; born 5th January 1988), is a Chinese pole vaulter. He holds the Chinese indoor and outdoor record for this event with the bests of 5.80 metres and 5.75 meters, respectively.
Hefei, at 5.60 meters, was his best vault of 2011. He was awarded the bronze medal at the Asian Athletics Championships 2011. He was in much better form the next year, winning the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships title. Then he cleared 5.65m to win his first IAAF Diamond League meeting. He was chosen for the 2012 London Olympics, but he failed to make it past the qualifying stage. He won the national title with a 5.70m vault.
He competed in the 2010 World Indoor Championships but did not reach the final. However, he was able to win the August national title in Jinan with a Chinese record vault clearance of 5.75m. This earned him the Asian Games selection. He was the Asian Games’ pole vault champion in 2010. He was also fifth in Asia at the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup.

Yang was born in Binzhou, China’s Shandong Province. He won the gold medal at 2005 World Youth Championships, and then took silver at 2005 National Games of China. Liu Feiliang finished second. Yang climbed up to the age category, winning at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships. He then won the silver medal at 2006 World Junior Championships. He also won silver at the 2006 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, behind Japan’s Daichi Seeano, and took the bronze medal at 2006 Asian Games.
He was 5.35m tall and won the 2009 national championships. He represented his area at the 11th National Games of China, where he won the bronze medal. At the 2009 Asian Indoor Games, he won silver with a vault of 5.40m.
At the start of 2013 he set a national indoor record of 5.80 m at the PSD Bank Meeting in Germany. In the outdoor season he placed third at the IAAF World Challenge Beijing meet. In 2014, he finished ninth at the World Indoor Championship.
