Kortenoeven announced on July 3rd, 2012, following the conclusion of a press event by Geert Wilders in which he announced that he was about to quit the PVV because of internal conflicts. He announced his departure with another MP, Marcial Hernandez. They formed the Kortenoeven/Hernandez Group, that was in Parliament until 19 September 2012 (after the general elections, in which they didn’t take part).
On June 17, 2010, He was elected to the House of Representatives for the Party for Freedom (Partij voor de Vrijheid). As an MP , he was concentrated on issues that concern foreign affairs (Middle East, Russia and Asia) as well as the military from the Netherlands.
