Wilson Washington Jr. (born on the 3rd of August 1955) is a retired American basketball player as well as a ex-coach at Norfolk State University. Washington played as an All-American athlete on the team at Old Dominion University and played for two seasons with the National Basketball Association.

As as a junior, Washington averaged 17.9 points and 13.5 rebound and helped lead his team the Monarchs into a 19-12 mark during a season in which the Monarchs played a number of Division I teams in anticipation of moving up a grade the following season. ODU also made it to an appearance in the Division II Final Four, however, this time falling in the final to Puget Sound in the national semi-finals. Washington was named a first-team all-American at the end year. As an junior, Washington was the team’s leader, leading ODU’s Monarchs to a solid 25-4 record during their first Division I season. Washington averaged 19 points as well as 11.4 rebound and was named the first ODU Division I All-American, earning AP honorable mention in 1977.

After many years in commercial activities, Washington joined the coaching team of Norfolk State as an assistant coach during in the season 2011-12. In his first year with the Spartans they finished 26-10 and they won their very first NCAA tournament match against Missouri with a stunning upset.

From Norfolk the Virginia’s Booker T. Washington High School, Washington first went to Maryland to play for coach Lefty Driesell. But he quit the school after just one game. He was transferred into Division II Old Dominion, where he and his team enjoyed huge results. As a sophomore during 1974-75, Washington averaged 13.7 points and 12.6 rebound per game. He was named a third-team All-American. The Monarchs won 25-6 and beat New Orleans 76-75 to win the 1975 NCAA Division II national championship. Washington was named MVP of the tournament.

After his time at the University of California, Washington was chosen as the 2nd round (25th selection in the overall draft) in the 1977 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He was a sparse player for the Sixers with an average of 1.4 scores and 1.0 rebound in only 2.7 minutes of play. Following 14 contests, he was dealt with the New Jersey Nets, where the Nets played him in a bigger role as a bench player. He was back with the Nets during the 1978-79 season and averaged 8.1 per game and 4.7 Rebounds per game.
