Da Silva began his career Palmeiras and signed an agreement for five years at the end of 2003. Da Silva made his debut in the first team of Palmeiras in a 1-0 home defeat against Gremio during the Campeonato Brasileiro on 28 May 2006. Since 2008, he was loaned to other Brazilian clubs. The deal was further extended to June of 2011. The contract was renewed in the year 2010. The player was injured in June and was out for the remainder of the season.
The summer of 2012 saw William was transferred to Serie B Joinville Esporte Clube on a free transfer. The next calendar year William was a part of Busan IPark from South Korea. William made his first appearance in a match against Gangwon FC on 3 March 2013. He scored his first goal in the match against FC Seoul two weeks later.
