Anjali Forber-Pratt (born June 22nd 1984) is an American wheelchair racer who participates in sprint races in the Paralympic level. The current position is an associate professor of Vanderbilt University in the Department of Human & Organizational Development.

The first time she competed in a major international event was in 2007 at the Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro which she was awarded two gold medals at the 200-meter and 100-meter races as well as a bronze for the 400-meter. In 2008, at the Beijing Paralympics she was awarded bronze in the 400-meter T53 race with a personal best of 56.79 seconds. She also won a bronze medal in the relay 4×100 meters T53-T54. She also participated in the 200-meter and 100-meter events in Beijing which saw her finish third and sixth, respectively. She also competed in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London as part of Team USA at the 100m 200m, 400m and 200m T53 events.

She is also an advocate for disabled people and in 2002 , she was associated with a court dispute against her high school, fighting for equality in education for students who have disabilities. Forber-Pratt was recognized by her White House as a Champion of Change by President Barack Obama in 2013 and was part of an open discussion on disability-related issues with important disability leaders. On August 17, 2017, Forber-Pratt was awarded the Athletes in Excellence Award from The Foundation for Global Sports Development to recognize her efforts in community service and work with children. She was highlighted as part of The UN Women Global Innovation Coalition for Change as part of the #SheInnovates campaign.

The girl was born in Kolkata, India and abandoned by her mother Forber-Pratt’s adoption was to Lawrence Pratt and Rosalind Forber at the age of two and one and a half months old. Born at Natick, Massachusetts, Forber-Pratt was diagnosed with transverse myelitis at she was just four and a half months old. The condition was able to render her completely paralyzed from her waist all the way down. Forber-Pratt started competing at the national level in 1993, making an appearance in the Junior National Wheelchair Games, and then went on to participate in the event three times more–in 1996, 1998 and 2003. She won four gold medals, six silver, as well as two bronze awards. She was previously her own World Record and American Record in the 200-meter. While a student of Natick High School, Forber-Pratt also participated in downhill skiing prior to finishing her studies in 2002.

Forber-Pratt serves as a Board members for the Transverse Myelitis Association. This Transverse Myelitis Association is a non-profit, international foundation that is committed to supporting children, teens, and adults suffering from a range of rare neuro-immune conditions, including: Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD), Optic Neuritis (ON) and Transverse Myelitis (TM), which includes Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM). The foundation was established in 1994 by relatives and people with these diagnoses and provides outreach, education and access to a medical health network for the rare diseases. Forber-Pratt served as a Board Member for Disabled Sports USA for many years. The organization was established in 1967. Disabled Sports USA a non-profit organisation that provides opportunities for more than 60,000 youngsters injured warriors, youth, and people with disabilities every year to build confidence, independence and physical fitness through participation in athletics for those with disabilities.

Forber-Pratt is a three-time graduate from the University of Illinois and is an alumni member of the school’s wheelchair track and field team. She has received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Illinois and earned her Ph.D. in Human Resource Education in May 2012.
