William “Will” Petschenig (born February 3rd 1995) is a professional Canadian- Swiss hockey player who is currently playing for the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. He has previously played for EHC Biel and Geneve-Servette HC of the National League (NL) and with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds of the Swiss League (SL).

On the 16th of October, 2018, Petschenig was loaned to HC La Chaux-de-Fonds of the Swiss League. On December 7, 2018, Petschenig, was traded by Geneva to EHC Biel for Mauro Dufner. He was a part of the regular season in 19 games as well as two playoffs games in exchange for Biel.

Petschenig was signed on May 19th, 2016, when he signed his first professional contract. He put the pen to paper for the two-year agreement for two years with Geneve-Servette HC of the Swiss top division National League A (NLA).

Petschenig was born in Manotick, Ontario. After playing for in the Upper Canada Cyclones and after an insignificant stint playing with the Nepean Raiders, Petschenig joined the Cornwall Colts of the Central Canada Hockey League for the 2011-12 season. From 2012 to 2015 Petschenig played for Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and helped them win the J. Ross Robertson Cup in the year 2015. An injury to his arm caused him to miss the season during the time his team won the Memorial Cup the same year. Following the season it was decided to trade him with Saginaw Spirit. Saginaw Spirit, where he played his final OHL season.

He was awarded his All Weather Windows Humanitarian of the Year Award as well as The Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy for OHL Humanitarian of the Year in May of 2016. Petschenig had developed the program “A Heart Like Mine” to help children who have lost a parent , in honor of the father he lost, Dan who was a former football player of Toronto Argonauts. Toronto Argonauts who died in 2013.

On August 26, 2019, Petschenig signed his first professional contract in North America, agreeing to a deal with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL for the 2019–20 season. He registered 2 assists in 26 games before he was claimed off waivers by the Kalamazoo Wings on March 10, 2020, before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
