Wendelin Wiedeking (born August 28th 1952, in Ahlen, Germany) is the former Chief Executive Officer and President Chief Executive Officer of the German automobile manufacturer, Porsche AG, a post that he held from 1993 until July 23rd, 2009. He also served as chairperson of the executive committee as well as an official on the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG from 2006 to 2009.

His professional career began in 1983 as Director’s Assistant in the Production and Materials Management area of Porsche AG in Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen.

Whilst at Porsche, Wiedeking appeared several times in the American automobile magazine Motor Trend’s “Power List” (05/06/07/08/09). The article ranks the most influential people in the automotive world; in the 2005 article he was ranked as #6, in 2006 he was ranked #3, while in the 2007 article he was ranked as #4. Wiedeking dropped to #7 in 2008, but reached a personal high #2 in 2009.

Since 2005 he is shareholder of the shoe manufacturer Heinrich Dinkelacker with 30%. The company’s headquarter is in Bietigheim-Bissingen. In addition to that he invests in Internet firms such as the online holiday lodge provider e-domizil GmbH & Co. KG.

Mechanical engineer by trade and a Porsche employee since Porsche in 1983 at the age of 31. After a short stint working for Wiesbaden located Glyco AG, a subsidiary of the auto-parts manufacturer Federal-Mogul and then was back at Porsche as production head in 1991. He took over two years following as the company’s Chairman (CEO) in the time that Porsche was on the verge of bankruptcy. Because of Porsche’s huge shareholding of Volkswagen, Wiedeking also found himself on the board of supervisors of the company. Many industry experts thought that Porsche would not be able to survive by itself, but Wiedeking claims to have earned his first million by his 30th birthday, using the investment in real estate, took up the task.
