Wang Zhelin is one of the most popular and richest Chinese basketball player who was born on January 20, 1994 in Fuzhou, Fujian, China. Wang Zhelin (Chinese: Wang Zhe Lin Pinyin: Wang Zhelin , pronounced [uaNG Tsulin] ; born 20 January 1994) is a Chinese basketball player who is a member of the Fujian Sturgeons in the Chinese Basketball Association. He was selected during Round 2 (Number of 57 in total) during the 2015 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Wang is considered to be one among the top Chinese players.
Despite going into the 2015 NBA draft totally under the radar, largely because of injuries he suffered during the draft, Wang got picked in the 2nd round late by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 57th selection. The fellow Chinese player Zhou Qi was selected with the 43rd selection of the Houston Rockets, the second time that two Chinese prospects were picked at the time of the NBA selection (the first was in 2007 when they selected Yi Jianlian and Sun Yue). But, Wang would not immediately be a part of the Grizzlies but instead join Fujian for the next season to further develop. Although Wang could regain some his talents which made him an attractive NBA draft choice initially but he’d remain with Fujian for at the very least an additional season.
In 2018, Wang played games with 2018 NBA Summer League teams as a member of the China men’s national basketball team. In the first game, the China men’s national basketball team lost 36-56 against Indiana Pacers.
In 2018-2019 CBA regular season, Wang reached career high of 25.7 PPG and 13.9 RPG on 54% shooting and led his team to the 2nd round of the CBA playoffs. Wang also received the 2018-2019 CBA Regular season MVP for this first time.
Wang was part of Wang was a part of the Chinese national team in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship played in China. After being on the bench Wang played in China’s triumph to win the title and also qualified to Beijing’s 2016 Olympics.

After impressing the Chinese young national squads in different events, Wang then signed his first professional contract with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association in June 2012 prior to 2012-13’s season. Wang enjoyed a dazzling debut professional season, averaging 20.3 per game and 12.9 rebound per game to become a prominent athlete for Fujian. The second season he played for Fujian saw him score an all-time high of 22.8 scores per game. However, he didn’t reach the same level in subsequent seasons. His injury- delayed 4th season, he was able to score the lowest average of his career, which was 10 points, 6 rebounds , and 0.4 blocks over 21.3 minutes of average play.

Then, in April of 2012 Wang got selected to participate in the Nike Hoop Summit and he stood out to many with his 19 points, eight rebounds, and blocking two shots in a win of 84-75 in the match against U.S. men’s junior select team. In August 2018, he played for China at the Asian Games. In the first game, China won 82-80, and Wang scored 13 points. In the end, he helped China win the 2018 Asian Games.
