Wagner Lopes (Lu Bi Xu waguna, Ropesu Waguna born 28 January 1969) is born in Brazil. He is a Japanese retired soccer player who was forward and later as a manager.
On September 27, 1997, Lopes was granted Japanese citizenship. After that Lopes was invited for the Japan National team in 1998 for World Cup qualifiers. On September 28 the following day, he made his first debut for the national team with a win against South Korea.
Lopes played 20 games and scored five goals for Japan until 1999.
Toward the end of his career, Lopes played for FC Tokyo (2001) and Avispa Fukuoka (2001-02). He retired end of the 2002 season.
In 1994, when Kashiwa joined Muller, Lopes left the club. He was signed to JFL Club Honda in 1995. There, he scored the most goals for two seasons in two years (1995-1996). He was transferred to J1 League club Bellmare Hiratsuka in 1997, playing alongside Hidetoshi Nakata, who scored regularly. He left the club at the end of the 1998 due to financial difficulties and transferred into Nagoya Grampus Eight, winning the 1999 Emperor’s Cup.

Lopes is a native of Franca, Sao Paulo and was a member of Sao Paulo FC as a young player. In 1987, following two years of senior status the player made the move to Japan and joined Japan Soccer League team Nissan Motors. From 1988 until 1990, Nissan Motors won three major titles within Japan; Japan Soccer League, JSL Cup and Emperor’s Cup for two consecutive years.
Lopes relocated from Hitachi (later Kashiwa Reysol) in the year 1990. In 1992, the Japan Soccer League was folded and the club joined the new league Japan Football League (JFL). The club finished 2nd in 1994, and was promoted into J1 League. J1 League.
Lopes went on to play six games and scored three goals to help Japan qualify for their first ever FIFA World Cup. At the 1998 World Cup, he played all three matches, assisting Masashi Nakayama in Japan’s first ever World Cup against Jamaica. He also played at the 1999 Copa America and scored twice.
