In 1985, he was elevated to a management position and later became vice chief editor.
From 2004 onwards the year 2004, he was Chief Operating Officer of CTC Media which at the time operated three channels of entertainment within Russia (CTC, Domashny, and DTV) as well as one channel for TV in Kazakhstan. In addition, he held the positions of the First Vice-Chairman of the CTC as well as Domashny channels.
In 2012-2013 Vladimir Khanumyan hold a position of First Vice President and then President of Sistema Mass Media [ru] – a media division of one of the biggest diversified Russian business groups — AFK Sistema. In February 2014, he was appointed to the position of the Vice-Chairman of Gazprom-media Holding – the leading Russian media company. He was responsible for the entertainment television division overseeing four free-to-air channels (TNT, TV-3, Pyatnitsa!, 2×2) and some other content divisions.
The majority of his life (starting in 1996) was focused on one of the biggest entertainment TV Holdings in Russia — CTC Media, an American TV company founded by American businessman Peter Gerwe. Vladimir Khanumyan worked as a commercial director. Later, in 1997-98, he became the director of the CTC Moscow TV channel, and later, he headed CTC Regions – a holding company that supervised and managed the assets of CTC Media’s regions.
