Viola was born on the 26th of September 1956 in an Italian American family in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Virginia (Torre) and John A. Viola has been the founder of a variety of companies throughout his career. He was the founder of Pioneer Futures in 1987. established Pioneer Futures, one of the top fifty commissions on futures sellers across the US. Then, in 1988, he established The Independent Bank Group, located in Texas, a regional bank that has its shares listed as an IBTX on NASDAQ (IBTX). Viola was also among the two co-founders of EWT, LLC and Madison Tyler, LLC two companies that traded on the electric market previously located at Beverly Hills, CA and was able to utilize the technology of electronic trading for personal gain making him among the wealthiest men on the planet. The year 2008 was the time Viola established Virtu Financial that was involved in market making via electronic technology. Viola made Virtu Financial public in April 2015 and began trading as an NASDAQ traded company (VIRT).
