Vida Samadzai (born 22 February 1978) is an American-born Afghan actress model, beauty pageant winner and model she is Miss Afghanistan in 2003. She was the first Afghan woman to compete in an international beauty contest since 1974 Her appearance in a bikini with a red color in the 2003 edition of the Miss Earth pageant created controversy in her home country. She appeared on the popular reality series Bigg Boss in 2011.
Samadzai who is from the ethnic Pashtun was born and was raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, and was able to move into the United States in 1996. She graduated from the California State University in Fullerton and was an American citizen. U.S. Samadzai also helped to establish a women’s charitable organization in the United States which aims to increase awareness about women’s rights and education in Afghanistan.
