Tsvetana Paskaleva is one of the most popular and richest Journalist who was born on January 22, 1960 in Nova Zagora, Armenia. Tsvetana Paskaleva (Bulgarian: Tsvetana Paskaleva ; Armenian Tsvetana , born 22 January , 1960 at Nova Zagora, Bulgaria) is an Armenian-Bulgarian journalist documentarian, as well as part of the International Documentary Association (Los Angeles). She was awarded the bronze medal by the Columbus International Film & Video Festival for her work in the field of documentary.

Following the ceasefire’s establishment in Karabakh the Paskaleva family settled in Yerevan and dedicated her life in the struggle for gaining independence for Karabakh. From 1995-2014 she is the author and host of several television programs on the Armenian National TV (“My dears,living and dead”-dedicated to Karabakh war,”Tjaragayt”,”Aspect” and “Man and people”(Marde ew mardik)-raising social issues. Since 2014 Paskaleva has a series of shows named “The Devotees” (Nviryalnere) in honor of the soldiers who fought Artsakh(Karabakh war from 1991 to 1994) as well as the April war (2016) that is broadcast on Armenian satellite television every weekend.

Tsvetana Paskaleva was awarded various awards at various international film festivals. While Paskaleva was born without arms and was only carrying her camera throughout the war, she was awarded her rank of Colonel Colonel for the Karabakh Defense Force in 1995, and an award of the medal for Courage from the Armenian Government in 1996. In 2009, she received the AGBU’s Garbis Papazian Award and decorated with the Movses Khorenatsi Award, the most prestigious prize in Armenia in the areas of education, science and journalism, culture, healthcare and arts.

Paskaleva was admitted into the PhD program in documentary film-making within VGIK, Moscow and during her studies in 1990, she traveled into Georgia’s South Ossetian Region of Georgia to film a documentary about the ongoing ethnic war. After that, she went to Nagorno Karabakh, and shot an film about the deportations of Armenian residents of Getashen, Martunashen and Shaumyan by Azerbaijani Interior forces that were that were backed by Regular Soviet Army units. Then, she decided to end the course of her PhD study in Moscow and return to Karabakh to report on the war that was raging between Armenians as well as Azerbaijanis. Paskaleva was the very first journalist from outside to write about the mass deportations of Armenians as part of the Azerbaijani special force (OMON) during Goranboy Rayon, during what is known as Operation Ring (Rus: Operatsiia Kol’tso). Then, when a war of the scales between Armenians and Azerbaijanis began to break out, Paskaleva was an independent reporter with CNN, NBC, French Antenne 2 along with the Reuters Agency in addition to Bulgarian, Russian, and German television. She would send reports from the hotspots at the front. In the Karabakh conflict (1991-1994) she produced seven documentaries on the conflict.

Between 1993 and 1994 Paskaleva showcased her films in 1993-1994 before members of the US Congress, the Parliament of Canada and The UN, Amnesty International, and many other organizations. She also gave speeches in support of the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Paskaleva received an Armenian passport on 7 April 2014.
