He is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played his college football during his time at Northern Illinois and signed with the New Orleans Saints as an free agent without a contract in the year 2016. A wide receiver who was not sized, Northern Illinois was the only college to grant Lewis the opportunity to earn an academic scholarship. Following his ineligibility during the 2015 NFL Draft, the Saints decided to sign Lewis following a recommendation from Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, who was an acquaintance of Lewis the High School coach.

On March 19 19, 2019, Lewis joined The Detroit Lions. Lewis was let go during the final roster cuts on August 30, 2019.

On January 27, 2020, Lewis signed a reserve/future contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Lewis joined The New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 2nd, 2016. After impressing in training camp and in the preseason, both as an offensive and defensive back, Lewis made the Saints 53-man roster. He was in the team for 12 games and made one start, registering seven catches totalling 76 yards and 312 yards of return total. He scored his touchdown for the first time on the 7th of December in 2017 when he played his team, the Atlanta Falcons. For the season of 2017, he recorded 10 receptions, more than 116 yards, and one touchdown receiving.

Robey-Coleman committed a clear and blatant pass interference with an early hit on Lewis, which, if correctly called, would have set the Saints up with a short field goal opportunity and a chance to run out the clock. However, the referees missed the call. The Saints would go on to lose the game in overtime, 26–23. Later on, the league admitted they blew the call and Coleman confessed to pass interference.
