Toby Marriott was born in Epping, Essex, United Kingdom on the 20th of February 1976. He is most famous for his role as lead vocalist and guitarist of the bands The Strays and Black Drummer. He is the sole son of legendary rocker Steve Marriott who fronted the groups Small Faces, and Humble Pie during the sixties and into the seventies.
In 2012, the band formed black drummer Koutsiouris along with black drummer and released their debut EP with their producer Dave Cobb, and engineer/mixer Vance Powell (Jack White, Dead Weather) at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, TN. A full-length album is planned in 2014.
After a hiatus of three years Marriott made the move into Los Angeles where he befriended bassist Dimitris Koutsiouris, and formed The Strays. The band later included Jeffrey Saenz on guitar, and Matt Rainwater on drums. The group’s demo was accepted by TVT Records in 2005, and their debut album was titled Le Futur Noir, released one year later.
