Tim Hankinson is one of the most popular and richest American coach who was born on February 18, 1955 in Manhattan, New York, United States. Timothy Milledge Hankinson (born February 18 1955) is a famous American soccer coach.

After 1998, Hankinson was promoted to the head coach of the no longer in operation Tampa Bay Mutiny. The club had won 39 games between 1998 and 2000, and was in the playoffs during 1999 and 2000 prior to the doors were shut following the 2001 season, as an element of the MLS expansion that reduced it from 12 clubs down to 10. However, by the time it was over, Hankinson had already departed to Denver to take over the highest position in the Colorado Rapids in late 2000. The team played in 40 games during his tenure with the team and made it to the playoffs in three consecutive times between 2002 between 2002 and 2004. The time also saw an extended streak of home games, in which the team won just one game. In the final quarter of 2004 the Rapids were purchased to AEG and then KSE as well. Hankinson was dismissed together with the majority of the Rapids front office to be able to accommodate the new owners’ leadership team. No matter the change in ownership Hankinson’s average MLS head coach’s duration of only 2.3 years, the four years he spent as head coach was longer than the majority of his colleagues.

In mid-2009, Hankinson took yet another leap and went abroad for the third time to become the “chief coach” of Salgaocar SC in Vasco, Goa, India. However, his time with the club was cut short after just six months. Unable to meet what many deemed unreasonable expectations to dramatically advance the club’s standing in the I-League during the first half of the season, he parted with the club early in 2010.

After a period of reflection, Hankinson decided to try his hand in the one area of soccer where he’d previously not worked: the grassroots arena of American youth soccer. In late 2010, he joined the staff of Broomfield Soccer Club as its Director of Coaching, citing the club’s location in the familiar surroundings of Colorado, close proximity to family and the opportunity to “give back to the game” at the most fundamental level as key criteria in his decision to take the post.

Then he spent in 1995 as general manager for the Raleigh Flyers before joining the newly formed MLS as the league’s first Director of Player Development. From 1996 until 1998, Hankinson directed scouting as well as player development while the league tried in establishing itself as an economically viable business and also the best soccer league across the US. In the same time, Hankinson was the head coach of Nike Project-40, where he worked with the next generation of MLS stars like Ben Olson and soon-to-be US national team regulars such as Tim Howard.
