Timothy Mansfield DeChristopher is an American climate activist, and co- founder of the Environmental organization Peaceful Uprising. The group was formed in the month of December 2008. protested against a Bureau of Land Management oil and gas lease auction that included 116 parcels of land owned by the public in Utah’s redrock country . He winning bids at 14 land parcels (totaling 222,500 acres) for $1.8 million without a plan to purchase the land. DeChristopher was ejected of the sale by Federal agents and later taken into custody. He eventually served the sentence of 21 months behind bars.

In the 2009 indictment, DeChristopher was accused of two felonies: violating the Federal Onshore Oil and Gas Leasing Reform Act and making false declarations. The maximum punishment was that was 10 years prison , and 750,000 dollars in penalties.
