Tigran Vardan Martirosyan is one of the most popular and richest Weightlifter who was born on March 3, 1983 in Gyumri, Shirak, Armenia. Tigran Vardan Martirosyan (Armenian: Tigran G. Martirosyan , born on March 3, 1983, in Leninakan, Armenian SSR) is an Armenian weightlifter. He stands 175cm tall. Martirosyan was given his Honored Master of Sports of Armenia title in 2009.
Prior to 2007, the European Weightlifting Championships in Strasbourg, Martirosyan received a serious injury that would hinder his participation in the competition as well as to train for 2007 World Weightlifting Championships in Chiang Mai in Thailand, where he was only able to finish 10th place.
The following year, Martirosyan won a gold medal at the 2008 European Weightlifting Championships in Lignano. He dedicated his victory to fellow Armenian weightlifter and later weightlifting coach Khachatur Kyapanaktsyan, who died in a car crash a few months earlier.
Martirosyan won a silver medal in the snatch at the 2009 World Weightlifting Championships in Goyang, but had to withdraw from the competition afterward due to a back pain.
Martirosyan was awarded the bronze medal during the World Weightlifting Championships in Santo Domingo and finished just behind Andrei Rybakou and Aslambek Ediev. He took home 172 kg, and then swung an additional of 198 kg, for the total weight of 370kg 13 kilograms behind the winner Rybakou.

Tigran Martirosyan began his weight training at the age of 15 under direction under the guidance of Vahan Bichakhchyan. Martirosyan has been a three-time European Champion during his youth career between 1997 1998, 1999 and 1997. He began competing at adult level in the division of light heavyweight (82.5 kg) in 2003.
Martirosyan participated in Martirosyan’s participation in the 2004 Summer Olympics at Athens and finished seventh with a total weight of 367.5 kg.
Martirosyan returned to the Olympics at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He lifted 177 kg in the snatch, 203 kg in the clean & jerk and 380 kg in the total. He won an Olympic silver medal. Martirosyan came behind Lu Yong, who each totaled the current world record of 394 kg.
