Darryl Gee (born June 6 1963) is a retired American soccer player who was a professional player with the North American Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League. He is a coach for young soccer players in Maryland.

Astonishing record on the youth level Gee was drafted by the Minnesota Kicks of the North American Soccer League took Gee from high school. The Kicks then sold Gee for the New York Cosmos in exchange for Cosmos initial and second- round draft selections. But, he was not able to make it into the starting squad up to June of 1982. On the 28th of September of 1982 the Cosmos held a goodbye match with Brazilian club Flamengo in memory of Cosmos and Flamengo legend Carlos Alberto. In the game, Alberto was in the first period for the Cosmos. After half-time Gee was handed Gee his jersey. Gee took over the second half with Flamengo. Gee continued to play for the Cosmos for a while, playing in both the outdoors and indoors, until the team disbanded in 1984. The Cosmos disbanded in December of 1987. Gee was signed by the Maryland Bays of the American Soccer League. In 1990 the Bays were awarded their APSL title. Gee quit playing in 1992.

Gee went on to represent the U-20 national team in the regional qualifying event for 1981’s FIFA World Youth Championship, to be held in Australia. In the tournament, the U.S. team easily handled its opponents, and only lost to Mexico by 2-0 in the final match. In Australia however, the team played badly, falling to Uruguay 3-1 and Poland with a score of 4-0, and then tying Qatar 1-1. The team then traveled to China and defeated Australia by a score of 2-1, before falling to China 5-1 as well as Egypt 1-1.

After graduating from the high school level, Gee played for the U.S. Olympic soccer team that qualified for 1980’s Summer Olympics. Gee had scored one goal in the regional qualification round that won the U.S. won. But, due to the United States’ boycott of the Olympics which were which were held during the Soviet Union, Gee and his teammates were unable to participate.

Gee was raised within Columbia, Maryland where he was a star soccer player at high school with his Oakland Mills High School boys team. The Maryland native scored 52 goals over 31 games in his senior and junior season at Oakland Mills and was named in the year 1980 as the Baltimore Sun High School Athlete of the Year, and attracted the attention of scouts of the North American Soccer League.

In 1999, he coached the Maryland Mania of the USL A-League in that team’s single season of existence.
