Thulani Caleb Serero (born 11 April 1990) is a South African footballer who plays as a midfielder with Al Jazira and the South African national team. In the past, prior to his joining Vitesse the club, he was a player for Ajax as well as for Ajax Cape Town in the South African Premier Soccer League.

In the 2010-11 season in the 2010-11 season, under Foppe De Haan’s direction, Serero helped the Cape team to a second-place regular season result, having scored 11 league goals and helped the team get to the finals of Telkom Knockout tournament. The end of the season, he was given a variety of awards such as PSL Player of the Year award, PSL Player of the Season, PSL Players’ Player of the Season, and the ABSA Premiership Red Hot Young Player award. On May 22, 2011 the club signed him by AFC Ajax for EUR2.5 million.

On 5 August 2013 he made his debut in the Eerste Divisie, playing for the reserves team Jong Ajax, who had recently been promoted. The match ended in a 2–0 victory against Telstar. On 26 November 2013 he scored his first international goal for Ajax in the UEFA Champions League, when he scored the opener of a 2–1 win at home against FC Barcelona in the 19th minute.

On 15 November 2014, Serero scored his first goal for the South African senior team in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Sudan, scoring in the 37th minute of the 2–1 win at home, thus helping his team secure a berth in the final tournament held in Equatorial Guinea the next year.

Serero was a participant in several trials with the parent AFC AFC Ajax in the preceding years. On May 22, 2011, it was confirmed that he had signed a contract for four years with Ajax and he said it was a ‘dream that has come true’. His debut came with Ajax on the 7th August of 2011 as a substitute in the game with De Graafschap. He played in only six matches in his debut season with Ajax because of an injury. His first strike with AFC Ajax in the home victory over NAC Breda on the 25th of August 2012. A week later, He scored two goals in a game in a game against SC Heerenveen, receiving a red card and then being exiled during the same game. On September 1, 2013, Serero began his career in the team of eleven of Ajax in the place of Christian Eriksen who had just quit to join Tottenham Hotspur, playing in the midfield.
