The band takes its name from “Wolf-Alice,” a late-seventies short story by Angela Carter. The story, a variation on “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Through the Looking-Glass,” is about a feral girl who is raised by wolves. That would be a good way to describe Rowsell’s vocal style.
