Terry Hoage is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on April 11, 1962 in Ames, Iowa, United States. Terrell Lee “Terry” Hoage (born April 11 1962) is an American professional and college footballer who played as an official player within the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons throughout the 1990s and 1980s. Hoage played in the NCAA football tournament for at the University of Georgia, and was named an All-American. He was a professional player for his team of New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Oilers and Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.

In 2002 the Hoages discovered the 26-acre (110,000 meters) vineyard located in Paso Robles, California that was just put to market. Terry invited Justin Smith, a friend and winemaker who went on to make an award-winning wine, which was named in the Wine Spectator as Wine of the Year. Justin Smith was brought in to assess the property. Yahoo! Writer Adam Watson said that Hoage’s involvement with Smith was “the equivalent of shopping for a computer with a young Bill Gates.” When Smith said the property was a top-quality investment the Hoages purchased the property, moved into it, and asked Smith to assist them in getting into the business. The relationship with Smith helped give the Hoages credibility when they launched their venture, and they began winemaking in 2004.

After retiring from football, Hoage interned at Merrill Lynch, passed the Series 7 exam, and seemed on his way to a career in finance. However, as he would recall in a 2012 interview, “I absolutely hated it. The coat and tie. Going to the office. It didn’t fit my personality at all.” He and his wife Jennifer, along with their two children, then moved to Phoenix, where he started a construction company, but were still not satisfied with their family life. They then moved to Templeton, California, a small Central Coast town. He had one further opportunity to become involved in the game, but turned down Jeff Fisher’s offer of a coaching position with the Tennessee Titans. Hoage then began farming a small piece of land in the area.
