February 3 2002) was an Australian feminist psychoanalytic and philosopher best famous for her posthumous work, The Transmission of Affect (2004). Prior to her death, Brennan was Schmidt Distinguished Professor of Humanities of Florida Atlantic University, where she established the PhD program for public Intellectuals.

Brennan earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from her home at the University of Sydney and an MA in political theory from the University of Melbourne. Prior to the start of her PhD in the University of King’s College, Cambridge, Brennan was psychoanalyst within The Tavistock Clinic in London. The clinic she taught in was The New School, Brandeis University as well as Harvard University, and finally as the Schmidt the Distinguished Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Florida Atlantic University.

Brennan’s coworkers contributed to the posthumous collection of her work, Working Attention on Teresa Brennan. Her papers are located within the John Hay Library at Brown University, part of the Pembroke Center for Teaching and the research on women’s Feminist Theory Archive. In 2017, the annual philoSOPHIA conference recognized Brennan in her home at Florida Atlantic University, with an address by Sara Ahmed.
