She also participated in the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships held in Eindhoven the Netherlands in the S11-13 events. However, she didn’t take home any medals. She was being the only Australian in the competition to not do so. Her time was 4:59.67 for the female freestyle 400m S13 event, in which she was fourth. For the freestyle 50 m S13 race, she came in fifth with a personal best with the time of 29.97. A shoulder injury nearly ended her participation in the event, and she was faced with the possibility of her not participating due to the need for medical clearance, which was required until an time when she boarded the plane for departure Australia. She participated in the 2011 Para Pan Pacific Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, where she was top of the line at the S13 400 freestyle contest the first time she had won a medal at a major international contest. On January 12, 2012, she took part in the Australian Deaf Games in Geelong, Victoria. She was 1st at the 100m Butterfly Women’s Open competition with the world record of 1.09.68. She placed second at the 50m Breaststroke Women’s Open race with an average times of 39.82. She was 3rd at the 100m Backstroke Women’s Open event with an average of 1.17.28. The event was awarded to her been awarded the “Outstanding Swim of the Meet” by the organizers of the Games.

Van Roosmalen competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in six different swimming events, qualifying for the finals in four events. In the process, she set several personal best times. At the games, she participated in a re-run of the 400m S13 freestyle final because of an equipment malfunction. She competed at the Australian championships on 15 March 2012 in order to qualify for the games. She was successful, and swam in four events, finishing sixth in the 50m freestyle – S13, seventh in the 100m freestyle – S13 and the 100m breaststroke – SB13, and sixth in the 200m metre individual medley SM13.
The year 2008 was the one when Van Roosmalen was named the Central Coast Young Achiever winner. In February 2009 Van Roosmalen was identified as the Express Advocate Young Achiever. Teigan Van Roosmalen (born 6 April 1991) is an Australian Paralympics S13 swimmer. She legally deaf and blind. She holds a scholarship for swimming to The Australian Institute of Sport. The events she competes in are 100 breaststroke m 200 individual medleys, 50 meters and 100 m freestyle. She took part in the 2011 Para Pan Pacific Championships in Edmonton in which she took home an gold medal at the S13 400 freestyle competition. She was a participant at both the summer and the 2012 Summer and the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
Van Roosmalen began swimming in 1997. She then competed for Australia during the 2005 Deaflympics held in Melbourne. In 2007 she broke an Australian record for age and also won an Olympic gold medal in the Arafura Games in the 100 butterfly event at 100 meters. She took part in the Australian Short Course Championships. She also took part in the IPC Swimming World Cup and received a pair of bronze medals. She also took part in the New South Wales Country swimming championships and came away winning four gold medals. In 2009, she participated in the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, England. She was eleventh in the women’s MD 100 Freestyle event with the personal best of 1:06.97 less than one second slower than Ellie Cole. She was ninth in the women’s MD 100 Breaststroke event, with an individual best time of 1:29.76. She was third in the women’s S13 100 Butterfly race with an individual best time of 1:08.24. In 2008, at the Beijing Games, she competed in six events, but failed to get an award.
