Coronta “Tay” Cody (born on the 6th of October 1977) is a former player in American professional and college football player who played defensive back with the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL) for six seasons. He played in the NCAA football tournament for Florida State University, and was a consensus All-American. He was selected to the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and he was also a professional player for the Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.

Cody was a football coach for the team at Bay High School in Panama City, Florida until 2012. Cody was defensive coordinator as well as defensive-backs coach.

Cody was born in Colquitt, Georgia. He was a student at Early County High School in Blakely, Georgia, and he was on his Early County high school football team. He was listed among the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s “Super Southern 100” as a senior defensive back. He was considered to be the top Georgia prospect. He earned one of the top marks of Jeff Whitaker’s Deep South Football. He was ranked the 12th-best defensive player in the nation in Super Prep. He had 10 interceptions in the course of his last two seasons. He recorded 70 tackles in his senior season.

Cody went to Florida State University, and was a player for Bobby Bowden’s Florida State Seminoles football team from 1996 until 2000. He was redshirted when he was an actual freshman in the year 1996. He was a part of seven out of Seminoles 11 games in the BCS National Championship season in 1999.
