Tavo Hellmund is one of the most popular and richest Promoter who was born on February 24, 1966 in Austin, Texas, United States. Tavo Hellmund (b. 24 February 1966 in Mexico City, Mexico) is a Mexican American businessman who is also an event organizer and former race driver. Although he participated in during the 1996 FIFA World Cup in Mexico and in 1996 for the IOC Atlanta Games Hellmund is best famous for his masterminding skills and being responsible for his efforts to bring Formula One racing back to the United States for the United States Grand Prix at Austin in 2012 as well as in the Mexican Grand Prix Mexico City in 2015. He was also the founding partner in the Circuit of the Americas in Travis County, Texas. This is the reason he has received the honor of being named North Americas F1 Hero.

As of the month of November, 2015 there was a report that Hellmund was considering purchasing the financially-strapped Manor F1 Team from then owner Stephen Fitzpatrick. Hellmund acknowledged that at in the latter part of the 2016 season the Hellmund owned consortium had signed to the terms for the purchase under the condition that the team would finish the championship in the 10th spot in the constructors’ championship. This would ensure Manor F1 Team $15 million in next year in prize cash. In the end, Manor was eliminated from the race in the Brazilian Grand Prix and the contract ended up falling apart. Unfortunately, Manor went into administration and went shut down two months later.

As of May, 2010 Formula1 announced that a 10- year contract was concluded in conjunction with Hellmunds Full Throttle Productions for the F1 USGP to be hosted at the soon to be constructed racetrack Circuit of the Americas outside of Austin, Texas beginning in 2012. Hellmund has enjoyed an ongoing relationship for 45 years in the past with Bernie Ecclestone Chairman Emeritus of Formula One. Hellmund and later the Texas comptroller Susan Combs spearheaded the passing of legislation that will allow for the F1 race to earn 25 million dollars per year for the race. Hellmund chose the track’s name Circuit of the Americas because of his fondness for the name of the track for horses located in Mexico City. He also sketched out the track’s layout on a napkin from a barbecue in 2007. The final design is essentially the same as the sketch originally drawn. After a few years of fighting against one investor Hellmund was able to agree to be sold, which was finally completed in November 2013. In the meantime, the race was well on its way in the start of an event called the Mexican Grand Prix. Hellmund is no longer a part of the connection to Circuit of the Americas.

The revived Mexican Grand Prix is driven by two key figures, Tavo Hellmund mastermind of the F1 USGP in Austin Texas and his counterpart in Mexico, Alejandro Soberon, chief executive of Grupo CIE. On Sunday November 1, 2015 the Mexican Grand Prix welcomed a race-day attendance of 134,850, and the three-day mark was 335,850. Three-time world champion and former Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda told reporters after the Mexican Grand Prix, “It was the best I’ve ever seen in my whole life.” David Tremayne of the Straits Times wrote, “Now, that’s a serious audience. As an object lesson in how to organize a grand prix, Hellmund’s team set a new benchmark, and for this, the sport should be grateful”. For the second consecutive year the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix was awarded event of the year.
